FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

Q: Are the images on your site created traditionally or digitally?
A: All of my illustrations are created traditionally, using oil paints.

Q: How long do you spend on a painting?
A: I like to have 3 weeks to complete an image. That gives me a week to read the manuscript and do preliminary sketches, and 2 weeks to paint the final image. Though, due to time constraints, I am rarely allotted this much time.

Q: I am looking to improve my painting abilities, can you offer any advice?
A: Work on your drawing abilities first. Remember, beneath every good painting is a great drawing. A solid drawing, with solid values will ensure a quality finish. For more specific painting advice you can purchase my DVD, or take a look at some of my free tutorials found HERE. Also remember to keep practicing. There is no such thing as an artistic 'finish line'. You will NEVER be as good as you can be. Set goals, and strive to make each painting better than your last.

Q: When did you start painting?
A: I didn't learn to paint until college, though I have been drawing ever since I could remember.

Q: I want to be an artist, do I need to go to Art School?
A: No, but it will certainly help a LOT. With diligence, some people can teach themselves. Though, without a formal education those people will not be exposed to as much information and techniques as they would have had they gone to art school. Personally, I would not be where I am today had I not gone to a good art school. I attended the School of Visual Arts for 4 years, and had the wonderful opportunity to meet a lot students who would later become top professionals in their field. I learned as much from my fellow students as I did from my teachers.

Q: What are some important things to keep in mind when pursuing a career as an Illustrator?
A: Illustration is a business, treat it as such. That means learning to present yourself in a professional manner in order to establish good client relations. Always provide a quality product, at a fair price, and NEVER miss a deadline.

Q: Are your originals for sale?
A: Yes, just about everything I paint is for sale. Most of the works on this site have already been sold, but feel free to send an inquiry if you are interested in a particular piece.

Q: Do you accept private commissions?
A: Yes, but rarely. The rates for commercial illustration are quite a bit more than the average person would expect to spend on a piece of art.

Q: I have a great idea for a project. The project is sure to make me a millionaire, and your work is perfect for it. Unfortunately, at this time, you would need to do some work for free... are you interested?
A: No.

Q: Are you looking for an intern?
A: At this time, no. But I am always happy to answer any questions you may have. Just email me at the e-ddress found HERE.

Q: Will you sign my Magic:The Gathering cards?
A: Absolutely. Just mail them to me at the address found HERE. Please include a S.A.S.E. along with the cards for their return. If you would like them mailed back in a protective envelope, it is up to you to provide one.
